Christine Jacques

Christine Jacques has an extensive background as a performing artist, dance educator, choreographer, and arts facilitator. She was a full scholarship recipient at the University of Utah, training in their prestigious ballet program and later furthering her studies in modern dance. She trained with Jayne Persch, Marcia Dale Weary, Maggie Black, Toni Landers, Li-Chou Cheng, Ford Evans, David Hochoy, Paul Matteson and Rachel List to name a few. She has participated in the Utah Choreographer’s Project, the American Dance Festival West and Bates Dance Festival. Christine toured both regionally and nationally with Indianapolis Ballet Theatre, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Ballet West and modern dance company Dance Kaleidoscope, performing roles in ballets from the classical to neo-classical. She performed roles in a wide range of modern and contemporary works, including the work of Jose Limon, Bruce Marks, Pascal Rioult, James Canfield, Neta Pulvemacher, and John Neumier.

Christine has taught creative dance, ballet and modern dance throughout the seacoast area, including five years serving as Assistant Director of Ballet Theatre Workshop in Portsmouth, where she co-choreographed the Nutcracker and collaborated on original ballets for the Music Hall’s family series. In 2003 Christine founded Elysium Dance Project, where she developed dance and yoga programming in a non-competitive, inclusive environment. A growing interest in expressive arts therapy that evolved out of her experiences both as an artist and as a survivor of sexual abuse and assault led her to complete her BS in Movement Therapy in 2010. Most recently she has worked as a dance/integrated arts specialist for individuals with disabilities. Alongside developing her own choreographic voice she enjoys collaborating with other artists. She founded and co-directs Range of Motion Arts with Patricia Harms, an organization offering integrated dance and art workshops and classes that utilize the creative process as a tool for personal and professional development.
